The publicly available searchable database that Congress directed the Consumer Product Safety
Commission to create is currently in “soft launch” mode.
It will go "live" in March 2011. Then the database will contain “reports of harm” from virtually anyone who has a beef with your product.
This session explains how companies should prepare themselves for the database. There is a discussion regarding the grounds upon
which companies can object to the publication of certain reports of harm and the strategies for getting a
timely CPSC review of your objections. Finally, the steps are described that companies should
consider to mitigate the public damage that can be done to their brand names by any unverified
“reports of harm.”
PRESENTERS: Anne Northup - CPSC Commissioner
Mary Martha McNamara - McNamara and L'Heureux
Paul Laurenza - Dykema Gossett, PLLC
