There are many concerns we have today in our American business community. These concerns come in many shapes and sizes. First of all, we have to serve our customers. The marketplace is demanding a wider variety of products, quicker deliveries, and in many cases, at lower costs, with the same high standards of quality. Second, we have fewer qualified people that want to enter the office and/or manufacturing environment as front line associates. This forces us in our work-a-day-world to try to meet the customer demands and do so with less people. HOW do we do this? WHAT do we do? WHERE do we go? Our customers are waiting for their products! Third, we have the foreign competition that is delivering lower cost merchandise to our shores every day. What are our options? How can we continue to service our customers, make a profit, and provide good jobs for our associates?

Agenda items:

  • Management's role in LEAN
  • Shop floor/business process implementation
  • Examples of lean successes
  • Expected results

Presented by: Bob Cleary

Bob has 35+ years in management in the upholstery industry, and 16 of those years of experience in teaching and implementing lean principles in the manufacturing and business process areas. While in management, as plant manager and director of manufacturing for multiple plants, producing high-end upholstery, Bob was responsible for production, all office functions, such as scheduling, purchasing, and HR. He was also responsible for product development and directed the design team. Bob has been teaching lean or responsible for the lean direction of a corporation for the past 18 years.

There are many seminars being conducted across the country today. Many teachers can give the “book” version of Lean, and tell you how to implement, but few have ever put LEAN in place on the shop floor and office environment. Bob knows the benefits of successful lean implementation.
